Plus Ultra strengthens operations in Peru with handling company SAASA

11/05/2026

Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has reached an agreement with Servicios Aeroportuarios Andinos (SAASA) to manage its ground handling services at Lima’s Jorge Chávez Airport.

The Madrid–Lima route operates six weekly frequencies using wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft. The contract covers both passenger services — including check-in and boarding assistance — and aircraft handling services, such as wheel chocks, baggage loading and unloading, and coordination tasks, as well as cargo management throughout the aircraft’s turnaround at Lima airport.

According to Alejandro Casado, Director of Operations at Plus Ultra:

“The collaboration with SAASA optimizes the different phases of ground handling services, improving operational efficiency and service quality on one of the airline’s most important routes in Latin America in terms of occupancy and growth.”

Plus Ultra began operations to Lima in 2015, launching its regular route one year later. Since then, it has expanded its presence to reach six weekly frequencies.

SAASA – Servicios Aeroportuarios Andinos, part of Grupo Andino, is one of Peru’s leading airport service operators. SAASA is the only airport operator in Latin America and the fifth worldwide to hold IATA’s triple CEIV certification: Pharma, Fresh, and Live Animals. The Peruvian company also operates in Colombia, Mexico, and Spain, where it manages its cargo terminal at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, with a processing capacity of up to 80,000 tonnes annually.
