Plus Ultra provides environmental footprint information for each flight with IATA CO2 Connect

24/06/2026

The tool, developed by IATA, provides an estimate of the carbon emissions associated with each journey based on real operational data.

Passengers will be able to voluntarily offset the emissions generated by their flights.

Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has incorporated the IATA CO2 Connect digital tool, developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), to calculate the estimated CO₂ emissions of each flight.

Thanks to this new functionality, customers who search for or book a flight through the airline’s website will be able to view the carbon footprint associated with their journey, providing them with additional information in line with international industry standards.

IATA CO2 Connect uses real operational data provided by airlines, including aircraft type, average fuel consumption, cargo load and flight distance, among other factors. It applies an IATA-standardised methodology to deliver more accurate and consistent estimates than those generated by generic carbon calculators.

The new emissions measurement tool forms part of the Plus Ultra Green programme, the company’s overarching initiative for implementing policies related to emissions reduction, operational efficiency, process digitalisation, sustainable mobility and environmental management. This programme served as the foundation for the Spanish airline to obtain IATA’s IEnvA environmental certification, one of the aviation industry’s leading environmental management standards.

In a second phase of the project, passengers will have the opportunity to voluntarily participate in certified offsetting initiatives aimed at absorbing or reducing the CO₂ emissions generated by their flights.

With the integration of IATA CO2 Connect, Plus Ultra takes another step forward in its sustainability plan by:

“introducing a tool that enhances the customer experience and responds to the growing demand from travellers who are increasingly aware of the environmental impact of their journeys.”
