Plus Ultra renews its ULD container management contract with Jettainer

31/03/2026

Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has renewed its long‑term cooperation agreement with Jettainer, the global specialist in Unit Load Device (ULD) management. The German multinational will continue providing the airline with comprehensive services for the supply, management, and maintenance of these cargo units.
As part of the new contract, the airline’s ULD fleet will progressively incorporate Internet of Things (IoT)–based tracking technology. In addition to offering real‑time location, this system provides detailed insights into logistics processes, enabling greater fleet‑use optimization and improved performance throughout each container’s lifecycle.
The devices, developed in collaboration with Trackonomy, feature a hybrid data‑transmission system. With LoRa and BLE readers installed at large and medium‑sized locations, combined with units equipped with cellular connectivity, the solution creates a dynamic and self‑expanding network.
According to Alejandro Casado, Chief Operating Officer at Plus Ultra:

“Extending this agreement positions the company as one of the first airlines to incorporate IoT technology into its ULD management.”

For his part, Jan‑Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer, states:

“Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas is a strategic partner for us, and we deeply value the trust they demonstrate by renewing this contract. With our IoT tracking technology, we will continue enhancing operational performance and delivering first‑class ULD management services in the years ahead.”

The collaboration between both companies dates back to 2016, when Plus Ultra began its regular long‑haul operations from Madrid to Latin America.
